Welcome…

James Hastings is an English actor, musician and teacher based in South East London. Born & raised in Oxfordshire, he moved to the city to train at Rose Bruford College and the Royal Academy of Music.

James’ previous acting credits include ‘The Trench’ at Southwark Playhouse, ‘Rags’ at Hope Mill Theatre and ‘Flack’ for Amazon Prime, in addition to his work in London’s West End on ‘Cabaret’ at the Playhouse Theatre and ‘Old Friends’ at the Sondheim Theatre. He is a founding member of The Bohemians Theatre Company, who premiered his musical ‘Pardoned’ with writer Joel Nash at The Other Palace in 2018.

In 2023, James released his debut EP as a singer-songwriter: ‘GAIA’. His musical background is eclectic and varied in both style and genre; as a multi-instrumentalist he has played in all manner of musical groups; from string quartets and improvised folk ensembles to swing bands and a cappella choirs. This breadth of experience profoundly influences his work as a writer and educator.

Having taught both piano and singing throughout his training, upon graduating with LRAM certification James joined the vocal faculty at Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom, Surrey where he taught technical singing to future musical theatre performers. He currently teaches a wonderful cohort of piano/singing students privately, both online and in-person at a central London studio.

A passionate environmentalist & ethical vegan, in his spare time James can often be found out wandering in nature with his Spanish rescue dog Lupin.
